Status:  Active
Year Started:  2002
Administered By:  North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center
Description:  The ITS-SIDS Project began as a 4-year partnership between the North Carolina Division of Child Development and North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation to develop and deliver a train-the-trainer curriculum on safe sleep practice in infant/toddler child care (ITS-SIDS). This training helps child care providers comply with North Carolina's 2003 SIDS Law 2003-407, which requires that child care providers receive training on safe sleep practices.

In 2006, administration of the ITS-SIDS training curriculum moved to the North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center to be offered as a web-based train-the-trainer course. This online training is available to child care health consultants, regional infant toddler specialists, and child care professionals who meet eligibility requirements. Participants in the training are expected to take the materials and information provided and offer ITS-SIDS training to child care providers in their local communities and counties.
