Description:
"First Connections: Infant & Toddler Development and Care" is Oregon's statewide training series on infant and toddler development and care. It replaced the First by Five training sessions in July 2007.
A standardized series of training that focuses on infants and toddlers, First Connections provides on-going statewide standardized training at an introductory level (Set One) for caregivers of infants and toddlers. These trainings are coordinated by the Oregon Child Care Resource and Referral Network (OCCRN).
First Connections makes extensive use of The Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers (PITC) curriculum by WestEd in California. First Connections has 21 stand-alone sessions. Most of the sessions are three hours in length. Two of them are two hours, and one is variable length, 3 or 4 hours. The total curriculum package is 62 hours of training. There is no required sequence. Participants can take the sessions in any order, or in any combination.
