| Description: |
The Infant/Toddler Training Program provides training and on-site technical assistance to child care providers to increase the quality of infant and toddler care. It is administered by the Division of Child Care Services and local Early Childhood Enrichment Programs and funded by the Bush Foundation. Training is based on WestEd's Program for Infant/Toddler Caregivers (PITC) and covers such topics as social-emotional growth and socialization, group care, learning and development, and culture, family, and providers. Trainers complete a 2-week train-the-trainers course by WestEd and then provide infant/toddler training to caregivers and parents in their own communities. Training opportunities are coordinated by regional Early Childhood Enrichment sites. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act enabled South Dakota to offer Provider Scholarships for Infant/Toddler Training starting in 2009. Updated July 2009 |
