INITIATIVES

This database contains key information on initiatives that address the needs of infants and toddlers in child care settings. Basic information about each project is provided, as well as details about the target population and scope of the initiative. Initiatives that directly impact children and families also include annual data regarding numbers served.

Initiatives and activities are categorized by the primary element of the early care and education system they address, as defined in the Ecomodel developed by the National Infant and Toddler Child Care Initiative (http://nccic.acf.hhs.gov/itcc). Initiatives are searchable by project name, state or system element.

The database information now includes 24 new initiatives, and updates to 52 State and Territory profiles, as well as initiatives related to Infant/Toddler Specialists, Early Learning Guidelines, and Infant/Toddler Credentials.

This database is not intended to offer a complete list of all types of programs that provide services to infants, toddlers and their families.

Information was reviewed by State and Territory CCDF Administrators prior to posting.

Information in the database was gathered from a variety of sources, including (but not limited to):

  • States' Request for Assistance Applications;
  • State and Territory FY 2007-2007 CCDF Plans;
  • Initiative Nomination Forms;
  • Program Websites;
  • Internet Research; and
  • Existing Studies and Profiles of Initiatives.

Please note that the database is updated on a regular basis. If you find incorrect information, please email changes to itcc@zerotothree.org. If you are aware of an infant and toddler child care initiative that is not in the database, please print and complete an Initiatives Nomination Form, available in Word and PDF format, and our staff will research it for inclusion in the database.
